To See the Sky



High above us

Watching, measuring

Always vigilant

Like a protective shell

We take for granted.

As moods change

As tempers flare

Colours forewarn.

Lucid blue,

Daunting grey,

Flashes of red,

Hints of pink,

The spectrum aroused.

Our lives depend,

Our comfort demands,

Our feelings inspired,

By such a simple thing.

How do we explain,

How do we understand,

Its simplicity is so complex.

By night, by day

Look up, look up,

And see the sky.
